JB Daniel - Tending

Solo Exhibition - Cultivator at Bray Grove Farm

Monday, October 10, 2016, 2pm - 5pm.

Cultivator is pleased to present a solo exhibition by JB Daniel during Bray Grove Farm’s Autumn Farm Day. In addition to being an accomplished artist, JB shares our passion for art with social practice, growing healthy food, and sustainability. He has produced relevant, thoughtful artwork for this event, reflecting the farm’s mission of environmental stewardship.

JB Daniel’s exhibition, “Tending” will be installed in our upper level exhibition space. His pieces are a result of a recent studio exchange in southern France. While there, his discussion with a Zen monk about his vineyard, “prendre soin du sol” (tending to the dirt) tied in with a previous conversation JB had with Brian at Bray Grove Farm. The result is an installation of soil sculpture and photographic projections.

Please join us on Monday, October 10th from 2-5pm for art and conversation, with a tour of the farm at 3pm. Bray Grove Farm is located 70 miles southwest of Chicago in Grundy County. To confirm your attendance and receive directions and parking information, please email.

JB has written a nice summary of his installation on his website with additional images. Click here for a link.

JB Daniel has shown his multidisciplinary conceptual art nationally and internationally. He always has at least one or two "art projects” going on besides his studio work. Currently, these projects include “Labor Paste” which creates a secondary landscape by employing images of iconic labor leaders around the historic Pullman neighborhood and “Mosnart” a venue offering visiting artists the opportunity to explore installation and community-based art projects. He currently maintains a home and studio in Pullman on the south side of Chicago.
